But everyone uses the word "Rut" so freely and we all have differnt meanings. So maybe they ment what I call the "Pre-Rut" is going to start. I like to define the "Pre-Rut" as the early stages of the rut some fighting, scrapping, rubbing of trees, and even some chasing of does. But everyones definitions are different. [/ QUOTE ] i have no idea about the rut in ohio but here in tn like metioned above we will have the pre rut starting in about a week the main rut follows around the first week of nov... Here in NJ the state biologest told me most does come into heat around Nov 15. I've also read a few days after the 2nd full moon after the equinox is when deer generally start to breed. Some may think that the rut is on when they start seeing scrapes and rubs popping up all over, but that is just the bucks establishing territory and getting to know what bucks are in the area. The very last part of Oct and first part of Nov the bucks will increase their activity more as the pre-rut kicks in. It is a good time to rattle and more calling then.
