I went out this morning early to my usual hunting property.Ive been hunting this land for 3 years harvesting only a few small Bucks and several does. This morning I got my first shot with my Horton crossbow I was only on my stand for 30 min.Actually it was a ground blind on a set of powerlines, and I used my "The Can" in only 10 min a nice 8 pt came out 40 yds from me and I never seen or heard him until he was almost in the woods on the other side.I got so excited and lifted my bow .Well he saw me and froze I was so excited that I felt like a 10 year old kid again with buck fever and all thought went away .I shot over his back and spent the rest of the morning wondering why?why?why?I forgot all the fundamentals we practice and did not take my time .I do not have a range finder but estimated 35 yards which is Ive been told the max with my bow.I stepped it off later at 31 so what happened Ill never know.Ill go ahead and vote myself BONEHEAD OF THE DAY!!!!!Well at least I do know there are nice bucks on my property and I also know that a crossbow isnt as easy as people think!!!

Re: First shot with crossbow

I attended cross bow training from horton, and they like the other mfg's 30 yards max, yes folks think they are easy, first and formost, there is safety to think about, they will take part or the entire finger in a split second, well we should learn something everytime we go out, and sounds like you did today, i am sure you will connect soon.
