mossyhorn
So today I took a walk after getting out of my stand. As I came around the hill I found a huge rub. I walked on around the hill and came across about 5 more rubs that had been made in the last few days. This area has the biggest rubs I have seen all year. Thing is this place is thick. There is a small clearing that is about 10 yards wide but there are no trees to climb. I sat there for about 5 minutes today and called a doe in. She came out of the hollow. Should I try to hunt this spot now because come gun season everyone and there brother will be on that side of the hill. Or should I stay put on the other side of the hollow and just make him come to me? I will post a picture of the area I am talking about to help you. mossyhorn
Re: What to do Ok so here it is Light blue- tree stand location Dark Blue- rubs pink- Scrape green- garden red- home yellow- trails orange- deer trails white- property line Ok so the rub line I found today is to the left side of the picture. But I seen the doe come from the bottom between it and my stand. My guess is that there is a bedding area down there. But anyway what do you thing I should do? VTbowman
Re: What to do Aint that always the way. All sorts of mega deer sing right near the property line. I have the same issues every year. Good land feature run right along the fence line. Thats where everyone wants to set up... If you can make the move now Id go for it and head off the gun hunters... Chance of calling him to you are not as good as getting him where HE wants to be. JMO
mossyhorn
Re: What to do I think I will go move an old stand my friend left behind the house a year ago. I told him I would get it for him but he said not to worry about it. As far as I know it is still in a tree beside the big scrape. I would just have to find a good place to put it. I am afraid to go in there and cut some of the brush out. You dont think it will make him leave do you?
VTbowman
Re: What to do I would try and cut as little as possible. If its that think it may be a beding area... Set up close to it but not in it. JMO
