johnf
I got my daughter 7mm-08 Friday and took it out for a quick sight in session and I was amazed. Not at the shooting, but the recoil. If you can recall, it's NEF handi youth model that has been modified by having a custom muzzle break and a "decelorator" and is topped with an OK ($120) bushenell scope. The guy at the shop said the recoil was very minimal and I was expecting something on line with maybe a 243 or lighter, but this thing was amazing. I literally felt no recoil at all, it was actually less jaring than my Marlin model 60 22lr. As I expected, the gun was pretty much ready to go and was about 1" off at 100 yards. I don't think the gun likes winchester ammo, my group was about 1 1/2", so it's not as good as my other nef's but sence she'll probibly only shoot 50 yards or less, I think I'll be good. I'll probibly get some more ammo this summer and see if I can find something the gun likes a little better so I can steal it and do some long distance shooting. johnf
Re: Holy Cow!!!! My daughter's not ready for hunting yet. She's 9, and shoots fairly well, but I don't think she's mature enough to have a gun in the woods yet. I'm very comfortable with my 243 and 25-06 and not quite ready to put them down.
