As we were scouting for deer Sat the 30th of Sept my buddy Ray killed this stinkey speed goat. It's a pretty good goat.

Sunday the first day of the season I passed this buck up because Bo and I saw some great bucks and this was a dink compared to them. I had it in the cross hairs and then lowered my rifle. Rays wife Jackie shot it since she had only 3 days of the 8 day season to hunt.

Bo and I took a picture at the ice caves with Crash. Famous trapper and fur trader Jim Bridger was alleged to have stored things in the caves while they were off trapping different areas.

Rays son Zack shot this spike buck with us one afternoon after he got home from school. Bo aptly named him quick draw because he constantly talked of "blasting" something and then backed down at the moment of truth. Ray and I talked him into pulling the trigger here after 2-3 other failed attempts. He was tickled pink with how it all went down.

Here is Bo with his forkie. See what I mean when I said he (the buck) lost his mind. In Bo's defence he wasn't presented with any other shot at this buck. I'm just glad he did shoot the head. A lung shot would have made it an all day job the next day getting him out of the canyon he was above.

The next day Everyone else was butchering and drinking and I didn't want to be the only one left in the field and figured this way I knew I'd get some muley sticks and jerkey so Bo and I got within 50 yards of this dude and he went down shortly after day light. We were running late on both Bo and my deer. We decided that was the trend to go with and it worked. But here is my forkie.

We finished out the day butchering and we may have had a cold beverage or two and prepared to head for the SD hunt where Chuckwagon Sam (Gordy) and his buddy Larry were to meet us. We got there friday afternoon and headed out to view what there was for bucks around on my mom's aunt and uncles ranch. We saw several and decided we were in good shape for the next day. Bo missed right away, then I misses the next one. Gordy and Larry blew a stalk. Then Bo finally connected on a doe, and shortly after that I killed my buck

That was all we could do for Saturday since we all missed several more times. Gordy misses a couple and was really getting flustered. Sunday Morning Bo cashed in with a fine 13 1/2 inch buck on a stalk while I was trying to get Larry on a different buck that never happened. Gordy called me and said get over here Bo had a buck down. I was suprised to see such a fine buck when I drove up on it. It had great hooks and some monster flags. What a way to start Sunday off.

Larry and I went off on a stalk and found we were stalking 3 different herds instead of one. We took some running shots and killed us a pair of adult does. We stalked through a dry creek bed for about 1 1/2 miles before we were right in the middle of them. We had 200 yard shots when we started firing at them.

While Bo was driving out to pick Larry and myself up he spotted a great buck. After we got back at it Gordy figured out a way to get to him,and it worked. He shot this great buck that was just under 15 inches. He missed this same buck the day before at 245 yards. He finally connected this day at over 300 yards. It was a truely great buck with a perfect heart shape and long horns.

Shortly after that Gordy and larry went on another stalk where they both killed does. I got a picture of Gordy's but we didn't get one of Larry's.

Now if anyone was counting that made a trtotal of 8 goats in 2 days and 6 were killed sunday. That made for a truck load of stinkey speed goats to cut up on monday. Here is a pic after we loaded the last one up on Sunday.

Monday after butchering we went to Deadwood and Mt. Moriah. We also headed to Mt. Rushmore but the low clouds and show made it so we couldn't see it at all. We headed home Tuesday, made a stop at Cabelas on the way and talked of the great time we had and how ol' Crash came through for us. It was a great hunt and good time. Just let me add too that Gordy can flat out cook. Man did he ever do us up a feast Monday night. Anyway hope you all enjoy looking at them as much as we enjoyed making this happen.
