Got an elk!

Today was opening day for cow season here in idaho so me and my little borther went out. The day was doomed from the start! Woke up latemad.gif, when we got to the spot it was raining, and we jumped something right form the car. After a few hours we were freezing so we headed home. About halfway to the car in a steep canyon I thought I heard brush breaking. The rain was falling so I thought nothing of it. A few more steps and I could see it, an elk...A bull! So i pulled up and shot. The elk was about 100-125 yeard down hill and facing almost straight away. The bullet went in just above the rump and through the lungs. The bull lurched forward and trotted off. Due to the rain I quickly followed him up, blood would wash away. When we were about 60 yards from the bottom of the draw I could see him walking almost directly across from us. So I sprinted to the other side and let another one lose, double lunger. The bull took a few more steps and toppled over! I got no pictures of him in the field however, because the clouds made it real dark in the woods. Worst part about it was I had 3 hours to get to work crazy.gif So I made quick work of gutting and laying him open and hurried home. Gonna take tomorrow off of school and get a few freinds of mine to get him out. Wish me luck on the STEEP pack, ain't gonna be fun. HAHA tongue.gif

Re: Got an elk!

Thanks guys! No i wasn't using my 450, I wanted too real bad though! The first shot would've been to far anyways. I don't fell to comfortable out past 100yrds. with open sights. Instead I was using my 7mm mag. Great Gun I love it. Thanks again
