TOMSD5
got to the stand about 3:30 this evening ...and before i could get set up had a medium sized doe standing and watching me ...she walked off before i could get ready.... well 30 minutes later another med. deer came thru the fence...i draw back and whack...right in the shoulder...i watched her run hard until she got out of sight....waited for 30 minutes then got down and started tracking her...as it was starting to sprinkle....well found my arrow about 10 yards from the shot and the broadhead was broken off...i spent the next 2 hours looking for blood and walking the trail she had run out on...well i went back to my arrow and measured it and all that was gone was the broadhead area. so i feel i hit the shoulder bone and that the deer will keep traveling when the soreness is gone...the land owner and his dog also helped me try to find it...i will be on stand in the morning...and maybe i still have time to get one...even tho all this happened i still enjoyed my afternoon in God's playground... i posted last evening that i had hit a doe and thought i had just hit the shoulder socket...well i thought about it all night and by the deer's reaction she was hard hit....so i get up and go out this morning to try a find her... as i stated my friend and his dog helped my last evening and the dog would wind something in a real tight brier thicket but would not enter(neither would my friend nor i ) well this morning i crawled into it and it sure was painful but rewarding...i had crawled about 10 yards and there she lay belly down...ok now to drag her out of the sticky tangle....it was a slow go but i got-er-done but then it had started pouring down rain so i have no pic's as the check station is also a meat processor so i left it there with them...she weighed around 70 pounds and will be a nice piece of eating...another thing that made me look again and harder for her was there was blood about 7 in upon the arrow shaft which with the broadhead would but like 81/2 in of penetration i got...and yes i still could have got the ball socket on the oppisite side...
