GWSmith
If your wondering how I came up with the title for this thread...read on There are those precious days when everything comes together...Like my hunt yesterday evening. All the planets align, the wind direction is perfect, All the clothes were treated with scent away, arrived to the stand way ahead of time, dressed perfectly-not too warm or too cold for the temps, remembered all the right gear, hopes were high.... Were High Hunting private property I have a habit of placing a piece of paper with "Who I am, Where I'm from, and Who's given me the Permission to hunt there" Half way through the cornfield I remembered that semingly insignificant piece of paper was still in my glovebox of the truck. It's now primetime in the deer woods...I know..I mean I KNOW the deer are in the staging area upwind of me 125-150 yds to my West. It's 5:30pm Wind is PERFECT Totally ready to drag home some fast food About 5PM I hear a truck stop out near mine by the road, people talking, and then leaving. The first thing I'm thankful for is I didnt hear glass break Then I'm thankful for having the area to myself for the Perfect Evening of hunting. ...Until I hear the property caretakers ARGO coming through the woods headed my way...then into the edge of the cornfield 43 yds away..then 30yds...then 20...then I wave at him from the treestand Then he stops to see who I am @ 10 yds in front of me. I take off my hat, facemask, and immediately he knows who I am. Said he didnt recognize the truck and that he had been having trouble with Trespassers so he came out to check to see who was there. Understood....I never stopped by his place with the new truck after having rolled and totalled the other one he remembered. So after he leaves(spinning the ARGO8x8 in place) and leaving ASAP so he doesnt ruin my hunt... I have an hour and a half to sit there calling myself names for forgetting a piece of paper that could have helped me score. Paper Cut's Run Deep Being one of those people who look for the silver lining all the time..... At least now the property caretaker Knows my Truck. My Camo Worked GREAT....The guy looked passed me 3-4 times and would not have seen me if I did not wave at him

VTbowman
Re: PAPER CUT HUNT Serve you right you inconsiderate private land hunter. LOL Oh well is how you chalk that one up I guess. Just glad the folks who stopped earlier did not trash your truck... Heck I worry about that on my own property... Good Luck man..
Rhino
Re: PAPER CUT HUNT We're all prone to having a senior moment every now and then Gary. I'm sure guilty of it so don't think you're alone there bud. At least he didn't run deer off that were already there but still out of range. That happened to me.
