Two lost hunters found..one dead!

Though I don't know all the particulars two hunters got lost in a remote area of the southern Adirondacks of NY last weekend. Search teams and a helicopter scoured the landscape in the area known as Jerseyfield, an area known for it's elevation change and valleys that start at it's western boundary that help create wind tunnels that further help the temperature to drop suddenly.

This occurred the last full weekend of the Northern Zone muzzleloader season.

One hunter was found with a severe case of hypothermia. The other hunter was found dead some distance away.

This is a new area that I hunt and I do know that GW and ADKhunter hunt the area as well. Hope to see you guys up there soon. Snow is going to be coming soon and we have to get on a migration trial.

Just a little reminder here. When the weather forecast predicts high winds, cool temperatures and rain, be prepared. Carry extra gear and be like these guys did.

Tell someone where you are going.

I have heard a few things about this...such a Sad thing to have happen. frown.gif

My prayers go out to the Family who has suffered the loss.

That area is where Dave and I have hunted before.

When I started hunting up there with him he constantly kept telling me to:

Bring more clothing than I expected to use,

Bring more than a couple ways to start a fire,

...and even though you have a GPS you had better bring a Compass because you wont always get reception for the GPS.
