RangerClay
Let's have a contest Lets see who chooses the correct answer Attached is a doe I harvested this year on Verterans Day. The doe itself was about a 120# class doe. An average size doe by NY standards. Can you tell by the picture why it was a special harvest for me? slugshooter
Re: A special NY doe I know my answer is gonna be stupid, but first Muzzleloader deer, here is why, yes, that looks like a Henry, but I was looking at the pic and I don't see a lever action and it looks like there is a ramrod on that rifle, maybe I'm just seeing things though. RangerClay
Re: A special NY doe DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! OJR has chosen the correct answer. It is my EMF replica Winchester 1866 a.k.a. Yellowboy in .45 long colt. Earlier in the week I damaged my usual hunting rifle in a fall. When I was asked to come hunting the only rifle I had was the one I use to shoot S.A.S.S. I have always wanted to take this rifle deer hunting but never got around to it. This was a great opportunity to bring it out and hunt with a close range weapon. OJR for choosing the correct answer you win an all expense paid trip to the North Norwich Cabbage Factory. To receive your gift certificate you will need come down to my house and collect it. Thank you everyone who participated. Get out and hunt with something different this weekend. RangerClay
Re: A special NY doe Adkhunter, I hunt near Talcville NY. Our property was mined heavily and there are lots of mineral deposits everywhere. I went to leave my watch and I slinged my rifle over my shoulder. Took a couple steps and slipped on a large deposit of quartz that was under the wet leaves. I went so fast that I never had the slightest opportunity to catch myself and I went right on my behind. Try to imagine being told to sit without any control. Well my tailbone and rifle buttstock took the brunt of the blow. About 1/4 of my stock split off clean. Split right on the butt plate screw. In case you don't know, Marlin does not use walnut for their stocks. My former cabinetmaker experience would guess the stock to be birch. Fortunately I was able to glue the stock back together and refinish it. The guys at camp say it looks better that it used to. So in the end both I and the 30-30 are all healed up. Thanks for asking
