popgun
That certainly is an oddity but it wasn't shot recently. This photo has been floating around the web for at least a year now. .....popgun

I would be afraid to shoot it, thinking it was somebody's calf or goat or something.......

LifeNRA
Re: A MUST SEE PICTURE Its a Melanistic deer. Melanistic deer are very dark sometimes even black. Melanism results from overproduction of pigment and is less common than albinism. Hunters see dark deer with some frequency but to actually see a Melanistic deer is rare. That photo has been around for a couple of years. Here is another melanistic deer that was shot last year here in PA, near Allentown. Guest Xen
Re: A MUST SEE PICTURE that is a sweet looking deer, love the all black - they say wearing things like solid black can make you look slimmer... maybe he was trying to keep that yearling figure? VTbowman
Re: A MUST SEE PICTURE I had thought I had a black doe on my property. I saw one out in the field during the summer with several other deer. I was certainly darker, almost black compared to the others, but not jet black like that one... I hope she made it, I have not seen her since August.
