Here in Maine (at least in my experience) gobblers come in many times without making a sound, either trying to roost one in the evening or calling during the hunt. That is a good question though...how many of us would still spring gobbler hunt if they weren't as vocal as they are? You know, like deer hunting, yes they are vocal, but not like a hen and gobbler. As others have said many times they come in quiet anyway. And they certainly DO gobble in the fall, just not nearly as much as in the spring time.
