Bow noise???

I still can not get my bow as quite as I would like for it to be. It seems to be louder on release than other bows Ive herd. I have a Parker Hunter Mag, and I have put pretty much everything on it, silence wise. It has limb blocks, and string spider, limb saver on the end of the stabilizer, and a limb saver bumper on the string guide. I have gone over and made sure that everything is tight on the bow as well. Do yall have any idea as to why I still cant get it as quite as others? I have a sting loop on it. Also does a release make a difference?

Re: Bow noise???

I once read a bow test report that had this very issue addressed in it. What they did was have multiple people sit near the target and listen to a variety of different bows shot at that target. When asked to rate the differences, the results were almost null and void. The test also included the same observers near the shooter and had them rate them according to loudness. The results from the observers near the target was that they couldn't tell a difference, even between the loudest and quitest bows as observed from near the shooter.

What does this all mean. You got me. IMO, the only noise that matters is the noise during the actual draw cycle. The ability to draw on a buck completely quiet is key. After that, according to this one particular test, it doesn't matter.

S.T.S. Shock Terminater Supressor I just put one on my hoyt and it made a big difference with string noise and bow recoil. It was just over $40 installed (i know 3 other guys who are very happy with the results on their bows) they have a web sight just do a search for "sts archery".....Silence is golden......

Re: Bow noise???

Sounds like you have pretty much everything you would need to get that bow to hushup!

Just one question though: "What kind of Peep sight are you using"???

If it's the one that uses rubber tubing to align the peep at full draw that could be something to look at changing wink.gif

A quick check to find out if it is the tubing "Slapping" the cables is simply to get close to a target(10yds), take off the tubing, point your bow safely at the target, and fire a shot. Replace the tubing and do it again...see if there's a difference in sound between the two.
