MrWiggely
A hunter took a monster buck about a mile from my parents home. It was reportedly about 7-8 years old, had 21-24 points and rough scored by a friend of mine at 202". My buddy has pictures that I am trying to get ahold of. My buddy Sean, a county deputy said it had bases as big as a pop can, and the tips of the main beams were as big around as the bases on a buck around 3 years old. As soon as I am able to get pics I will post them up. Wigs

western NY bowhunter
Re: Monster NY Bow Kill !!! This might be the buck that you're referring to. It was posted on Archerytalk.com the other day...says 24 pts., scored 4" under the current bow record (205") and was taken opening day in Ellicotville, NY, which is Cattauraugus County I believe? I don't know...I can't count close to 24 pts. in the photo and it sure doesn't look like it will score 200+". Regardless, he's a great NY buck and I would definately like to see come better pics. of it. www.archerytalk.com

Stinger-Hunter
Re: Monster NY Bow Kill !!! Pics look pretty big, but the rack is banged up and broken. No way it is in the 200's great deer though.
GWSmith
Re: Monster NY Bow Kill !!! Scary thing is Wigs....I saw a Buck 2 yrs ago while driving to hunt in West Virginia the Saturday before Thanksgiving that could have been that Bucks twin! Driving the Thruway west bound it ran a doe out to the roadside, I saw the doe first and pulled over, then it just stood there looking at the traffic going by. It was almost like the buck was saying to himself "Who put a road here"???? It was just before the "Clarence Service Area" X-miles ahead sign on the northside of the road on the right. I have no idea where that is or in what county but as you can geuss it's burned into my mind permanently Beautiful Buck
wtnhunt
Re: Monster NY Bow Kill !!! Great deer there. Pretty cool to know your area has without any doubts the ability to grow them that big.
MrWiggely
Re: Monster NY Bow Kill !!! Yup that is the one. It does have 24 points, but as I count only 21 or 22 will be scorable. and yes it will score near 200" my best guess with out a tape is probably 185-190. When I get the pics from my buddy you will see better. the mass is out standing. Ellicottville is just a mile from me, a couple of years ago there was a feature article on Realtree about a new New York State record Muzzleloader buck shot in Ellicottville by a very good friend of mine too. The distance from one deer to the next is about 7-8 Miles. GW The Clarence exit is about 50 miles north of us here. If you look at a map we are close to I 86 exit 21. Guest Zemmer18
Re: Monster NY Bow Kill !!! That is a great looking buck for sure!!! I have to laugh at two other points made though. The 1st is that someone actually called Rt 17 I 86. I live just off of 17 at exit 66. They just had a ceremony in this area for the renaming of Rt17 to I86 and about 5 people showed up for it. Secondly, it's funny that just a few counties away it is called pop and it's soda here. I hunt with some fellas from the Boston area at our hunting camp in Delaware county and they are always referring to it as pop. I believed it to be an Eatern New England thing. Ya learn something new everyday. If anyone is ever near Exit 66 on Rt17 (aka I86) stop by the Mcdonalds and give me a call. I'll stop down and we can grab a pop!!!!
