robk
Re: Exploding Carbon Arrows (graphic): unfortunately it isn't just carbon arrows that go boom but the aluminums also do ti and actually i have seen worse with aluminums than with carbon. i spent over 15 years in truama and i would rather get hit with carbon vs's aluminum if i was have to pick one. the aluminum when it exploded was much bloodier than witht he carbons. i hate to see that happen but i guess it's going to happen nomatter what you shoot and it is a great idea to inspect yoru arrow after every shot. i have gotten into the habit but you never know what will make an arrow explode but i saw a brand new easton aluminum blow up on the first shot and really tore the guy up and it was the wierdest thing i have ever seen but it split length wise andhtne i guess where the weak spot was then splintered like it had hit a concrete wall and just shredded the mans arm and implanted itself in his wrist anf hand. sorry to keep harping but please inspect those arrows lot of tendons and other needy little nerves that can be destroyed all so be careful rob k

VTbowman
Re: Exploding Carbon Arrows (graphic): I actualy checked one of my GT arrows for the warning and I bought mine new last spring. It said to "Go to GoldTip.com for safety warnings". However my brother had also bought a set last year and his GT's do not say anything for a warning. His were slightly older model then mine as best we can tell. His came with the lock nocks, mine came with their newest style nock. If it matter to anyone... LOL My point is a "flex it first" warning is not on all arrows. Spread the word...

Ravin R10 man
Re: Exploding Carbon Arrows (graphic): I bet this arrow hit hard into something before this shot occured, and thus was fractured , causing the mishap.
horst
Re: Exploding Carbon Arrows (graphic): I shot at a coyote this fall running around in a guys cattle lot, it was a long shot for me about 60 yrds and I just clipped the yote.went back the next morning and found my carbon arrow, picked it up, looked it over, and nothing was wrong with it.Went to stick it back in my quiver and it snapped right in half. One of the cows musta stepped on it and somehow cracked it, but you couldnt tell by looking at the arrow it was damaged.Hate to think what woulda happened if Id actually got to shoot that one again
Straight Shooter
Re: Exploding Carbon Arrows (graphic): I agree with GusTwinds. I've shot carbons for years now and have had no problems with the doing anything of that nature. Except when hitting a tree and it's to late by then to even think about putting it back on the string. LOL I inspect every arrow that slaps in a target or is hit by another arrow. It's just as much responsibility of the shooter to check their equiptment as the manufacturer's to make good equiptment. JMO I hope this guy is alright, carbon can caused a very back infection, with all the fibers left in the wound.
browning_gold_12
Re: Exploding Carbon Arrows (graphic): my uncle had this happen bout 15 years ago, when we were all shooting over-draws and small diameter aluminum arrows, 1916's i think. he had a jennings woody, remember, they were notorius for the riser splitting when you put an overdraw on and filed down the shelf to clear a 125 grain broadhead. his release was a lewis and lewis pro injector, and a tm hunter rest. anyway, he drew back and torqued the string, and his arrow jumped off the rest. when he tried to flop it back up onto the rest, the string came out of the release and he shot his hand in the identical spot as that picture. the broadhead severed the tendons in his first three fingers. but after surgeries and rehab, he regained full use of his hand. remember, like T.K. and Mike said, "safety is the safest thing!" BowJoe
Re: Exploding Carbon Arrows (graphic): I had a friend do the same thing except his arrow fell off the rest and when he let down it went too fast and went through his hand. Carbon arrow again. I think the only difference in carbon and aluminum is that a carbon flies apart and splits like a tree and an aluminum stays cirgular but makes a big hole. Neither of which are something I want to experience.
