Guest yarddog
well just got back from my first colorado elk hunt and had a great time we camped at 9400 feet the thin air kicked our butts being from ohio.we hunted at about 10,000 feet up and down the mountains saw 16 elk scouting and hunting got to shoot at one elk and shot over her back, gun is set at 3" high at 100 yrds and i thought she was under 100 yrds but after the shot i ranged it and it was 193yrds. found out the hard way it is really hard to judge distance out west in those big open mountain medows. but i am not complaining i had a great time and i will go back. we got run off the mountain by the weather 18 to 24" inches of snow was coming and the ranger told us if we got stuck the would come and get us but we had to leave all our stuff till the spring thaw (not good)so we left 2 days early. but one of the highlights of our trip was one day we were scouting and walked up on a mountain lion and it took off and did not want anything to do with us thank god all we had was a bipod for a spotting scope.but it was cool to see. hooked on elk hunting
