RTF
This post is directed to other taxidermists who do their own reproductions using bondo. When thinning bondo using fiberglass resin so you can pour the mixture, what hardner do you use ? The one that came with the bondo or the one that came with the resin ? tedicast
Re: Thinning Bondo ???? I'm not a taxidermist, but I'm in the autobody trade. When we thin our plastic body filler (Bondo) with resin, we use the cream hardner that is normally used with the filler. Never had a problem with it. there are also body fillers out there that are finishing fillers. They are creamier, and spread easier. They also sand a bit easier that normal filler with resin mixed in.
artisticwhitetails
Re: Thinning Bondo ???? I do the same as Magis. I use about half a cap full{depending on the resin amount used} of the catylist for the resin and the cream hardner for the Bondo. The few times I have not used anything for the resin it seemed to take the mixture forever to kick off.
