89importeater
hey guys whats going on. just wondering if you had the choice to get a used but in great shape ar-34 or a brand new fred bear element which would you get? i am thinking about buying either of these this week and need some input from people, that own or have shoot these bows. they are both 300 bucks and the both seem to feel good to me but i might can get the ar-34 slightly cheaper because it is at my local pro shop and the owner might knock a little off the price if i trade my bow in. while at the same time i would be going to dicks sporting goods to buy the element at full price. any suggestions would be great thanxs. dogdoc
Re: used ar-34 or new fred bear element I've been shooting an AR-34 for 3 years now and have been very happy with it. I'm not familiar with the Element so can't give you any advise on that bow. I also think that buying from a local pro is a plus for future help. He will probably stand by his bow and help you with future tuning and any problems that might arise. todd
89importeater
Re: used ar-34 or new fred bear element great thanxs dogdoc for your help, ok then one for the ar-34 any others with some input?
Guest forsythe04
Re: used ar-34 or new fred bear element well i think the fred bear line out this year is great. i liek the element the least however with a smaller idler wheel on top with a traditional single cam design. if i were to choose a fred bear id suggest saving up another 100 bucks and grab up the fred bear instinct, its a smooth draw with hardly any recoil. and very quiet out of the box! i sell them on a daily basis at cabelas. i havnt had much experience with ar's so i'll leave that to someone else. but the fred bear line this year gets a thumbs up from me. good luck choosing
preacherman
Re: used ar-34 or new fred bear element I have shot the AR-34 and have a hard nosed friend who has had one for several years and he loves it! I think the AR would be a better choice and like Dogdoc said, your local pro shop would probably stand behind the bow and the work they put in it to set it up. Switchback29A1
Re: used ar-34 or new fred bear element Never shot the AR but one of my friends has a Instinct, very short and smooth. Would imagine the element is even better.
89importeater
Re: used ar-34 or new fred bear element thanxs guys i think i will try to get the ar-34 and by the way switchback the element is the cheaper of the new fred bear bows. i think the instinct is the next step up from the element so i figurede it would be worse. [/ QUOTE ] Just because a bow is cheaper doesn't mean the capability of the bow is less... Heck look at Reflex, cheaper bows with all the great technology!! 89importeater
Re: used ar-34 or new fred bear element you are right hunter casey, not that the bow would be bad its just that i dont see how it could be as good as the instinct since it is less. although how much better could it be for 100 buxs.......hmmmm. well it didnt work out at the bow shop anyway, it was gone when i got their. but i have a new question. i think i plan on just sticking with the bow i have now for the rest of the season but the pro shops new bows are on sale so i think im going to put one on layaway. what do you guys think between a new ar-35 or mathews ld or xt? Or if you where in my position would you just get the element and call it a day?
SpcNape
Re: used ar-34 or new fred bear element I have a friend who just got an element and he is quite pleased with the bow. He said it is quiet and smooth. Realtree just signed a contract to use Fred Bear bows, that must say something about their quality.
tclubbs2
Re: used ar-34 or new fred bear element I have an element and love it. I bought it in July and have shot many arrows through it for practice. I am still waiting to down a deer with it though. I don't know about Dick's Sporting goods but Cabela and Bass Pro have the element at $350 with Whisker Biscuit QS, Sights and Quiver. The Biscuit itself almost costs that much. The sights are cheap. I plan on buying new ones next year.
Stinger-Hunter
Re: used ar-34 or new fred bear element tclubbs2 and I have the same set up, but I bought new sights with the bow. I think it shoots very accurately, although i still have the quiver that came with it and it causes it to vibrate a bit too much. I would get a removable quiver
