QDMAworks4me
Some of you may remember the post I had earlier about what I call my redneck deer blind, if not here is one picture of it. The picture I have here is from the backside of it to show you the food plot that is in front of it. ANyways...I thought that I would tell you what an exciting experience that I had in the blind last night. I was sitting in my blind and I had a deer walk up to me and start eating off of the branches right in front of the blind which means I could have pet the deer if she would have let me I was not going to try my luck on that one though!!! I have had a lot of deer walk right up to me within ten yards and actually shot a doe at 15 yards with a muzzleloader last weekend. All I can say is the deer blind may not be the best looking deer blind but I tell you the deer don't even pay attention to it and I am having a blast sitting in there because this season has been very wet and raininy and I am dry as can be. I also love it because I had a chance to take my black lab puppy hunting with me, he was curled up at my feet, the only problem was one afternoon I had deer at ten yards and my dog was snoring, I thought he was going to scare the deer away, haha Just thought I would share with all of you how much fun I am having this year. Now I have my neighbor Born2hunt looking for an old trailer to put on his foodplot, maybe it is the start to something here QDM

Guest Finn
Re: Redneck deer blind update Man, that's a good idea. We've got an old topper at my Dad's and I think I'll use it for my next shack. Don't you hate when snoring chases the deer?
drkillemquick
Re: Redneck deer blind update That's cool. How loud was it when you shot the muzzleloader in there?
Newarcher
Re: Redneck deer blind update Hey, if it works...it works. I like unconventional blinds. I have been thinking of cusomizing a small school bus as a hunting/camp vehicle. Open up the back door to accommodate my four wheeler, take out some seats and make a nice bunk area, take out others to make a dining/kitchen area. [/ QUOTE ] I will be honest when I get into shoot mode on a deer I don't hear much, I did not hear a thing in there when the gun went off. Now if I were shooting taget practice I would wear ear muffs for sure!!!

nutz4bucks
Re: Redneck deer blind update Few years ago we converted a gravity box. put a topper on top, put a floor down about three feet from the top and slick plexi glass slider shooting windows in it. works great
