gitcha_some
On saturday the crew hit the woods for the last day of the first muzzleloader split. I dont know what it was but the conditions smelled like a buck was gunna go down today, and i thought i'd be the last one to get one, because of where im hunting. Enjoyed a beautiful meteor shower on the way to the stands and while waiting for the sun to rise. About 10 minutes into light i catch a huge deer crossing directly between me and my uncle. Of course the one day i forget my grunt call the monster walks by , buts that just how it goes. So i decide to tickle the horns together a little once ive determined hes not going anywhere near me or my uncle, the buck looks up and jumps into the woods! Must be gettin call shy or maybe there's an even bigger bad boy out there somehwere that hes afraid of . So after he passes there isnt much more until about 15 minutes later i spot a buck and man is he comin. Ears out, tail up coming right to me, im guessing he heard me rattle earlier. Anyway here he comes 50,40,30 and hes still coming...eventually my uncle started calling me on the radio wondering y i havent shot yet(he thought i didnt see it! LOL) so i call him back and tell him im reelin him in, get the net ready! haha. The buck comes to 15 yards and stops broadside, at this point im thinking wow god must be shining on me today! Pull back the hammer and BOOM! the cva wolf was howling! Nothing but smoke then i spot him running like hes hit hard( of course he is he was only 15 yards LOL) runs about 40 yards and crashes down into the soy beans. man i was so happy i was still shaking 10 minutes later. He's no monster by our standards but he came to me like it was a gift so i took him and settled on him as my first buck, what a great feeling, now i can still shoot one more so im gunna concentrate hard on that big boy we saw, might try to decoy him because my brother saw him running little bucks out of the field later that day sorry no pics yet i forgot the digital so i gotta wait for the film to get developed in my uncles camera, will post as soon as i get them though!
