Experience with Tekan 2s?

Hey guys, thinking about making the switch to expandables...not this year but probably next year. Pretty sure I want to go with one of the rear expanding heads like the Tekans, Snypers or Rage. I know the Rage and Snypers are about the same but was very interested in the Tekans. Anyone here ever use them, and what results did you have?

Sorry guys, I know the mechanical head question gets asked all the time but i just HAD to ask for myself haha. Thanks in advance!

Re: Experience with Tekan 2s?

I officially tried another head (I beg forgiveness from Muzzy) out this year and it happened to be the Tekan II. I wasn't all that impressed with the entery hole, but it did it's job on the deer. I watched it pile up after 50 yards, but any well placed arrow with a good broadhead will do that. The reason I wasn't impressed with the entry hole, was they state the blades will slide back with .75 pounds of energy. The blades didn't fully deploy until in the deer. They fly great and hit hard, but I'm hung up on Muzzy's to much to do anything but try something instead of switching to another head.

Re: Experience with Tekan 2s?

My brother and I switched to them this year. He shot a 3 ptr, 160# on the hoof, with one opening day .

The entery and exit holes were the same and as big as a cut as it states they have. It even looks like a 4 blade head with the tip acting as bleeder baldes.

The buck went 30 yards the piled up.

He hit high and forward actually nicking the back of both shoulder blades and still passing threw.

No damage to the head what-so-ever but his arrow broke in two.

I have yet to put one threw a deer but did have a accidental shot the other evening and buried it in the gorund. NO damage to the head what-so-ever. Just needed to touch up each blade to get back to razor and its back in the quiver.

I did do testing on blade opening on 2 layers then 1 layer of cardbroad and then a single sheet of paper this summer.

Opened everytime.

Great mech head IMO and I have used many...

Like StraightShooter said.

ANY head put in the boiler room will do this stuff.

I am impressed with the dependablity and durability with this head. With the ground and bone hits and still keep its shape and servicablity.. Every other mech head has not done this for me.

[/ QUOTE ] Vt-let me ask you something on these heads? Do you do anything with them after getting themout of the packages? I' noticed on a couple of them that I really had to push the blades back hard to get them to slide rearward. Then after seating them back, they deployed fine and I did do the paper test and got them to deploy. This one I shot the buck with must have been one I didn't manually deploy the blades on before I shot it. Just a thought on my entry hole.
