My stand sets of the edge of a little cut down corn field about 250 yards long and 60 yards wide. It was really windy sunday evenin so i didnt expect much action but when me and my buddy got to the field there was already a doe and 2 fawns out in the field right where i walk in to go to my stand.I was walkin down the field and they ran into the woods I got in my stand at 3:15 and sat there swayin back and forth with the wind.The first deer i saw after that was at 5:40 way down the field I got out of my stand a little early 6:10 about 20 minutes b4 it got to dark to shoot.As i was makin my way out to the field a doe and two fawns came out on the other side and they were feeding along the edge of the woods across from me. As I was watching them the doe looked back and a big 6 point with a reakky tall rack walked ou to the field and a fawn was with him. As the buck was workin a scrape at the edge of the field the fawn ran up to the doe and she chased him away. I was sittin at the edge of the field as this 6 point was feedin walkin righ toward me 20 more yards and hes mine. Then the doe started walkin back toward the buck, she past him and he turned and got up behind her. She darted down the field and ran in the woods and he was runnin right behind her to me thats one of the best signs during deer season. THE RUT IN ILLINOIS IS COMIN IN. How weird is this 16 does came in a bottom at 330 and bedded down out of the wind till 640 at 5 20 a 6 pointer and a half way rack jumped the fence dwon about 75 yds from me and headed into the wind away from me-havent seen any chasing yet but its coming--good hunting Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

By next weekend I think there will be a little chasing going on. The week after that look out it will be good. To me the best bowhunting weekend is the weekend before the first shotgun season.
