Re: Pre rut activity and rain

Its been raining in NY for what seems like an eternity. The deer don't seem to mind it. I even had a doe come out into the field to feed, lay down, and just hang out for 2 hours in a steady light drizzle. As long as its not a heavy pouring rain, they don't mind.

I agree with all said! They'll still be moving, just be careful cause you won't hear 'em coming! I got busted like that once... had a 130" ten point walk up right under my tree from behind. When I moved all the sudden not knowing he was there, I was done for. grin.gif Good luck, and stay dry! BS

Good Heavens....Aint that the Truth!!! tongue.gif

Welcome to another typical day of NY Weather during the hunting season:

Rain...with an occassional break in the seemingly never ending Rain for: Heavy Rain with High Winds smirk.gif

Danbo we should be Experts at this question if anyone could be wink.gifgrin.gif

Actually I see more deer during a light drizzling rain than without. Add in the wind...now it starts to get somewhat tricky.

0-10MPH winds with almost any amount of Rain short of a "Gully Washer"...Does not bother the deer around here a bit that I've seen.

10-20MPH winds with Rain(I swear I saw a channel bouy marker float by my treestand the other day)...

Thats when I would say theres about a 75% drop in total deer sightings on the property I've been hunting.

just remember deer wont move when it is terribly windy and raining. But all the rain everyone has been getting deer still have to get up and feed so they will still move some what at the same time. thats what ive been experencing this year--good hunting and be safe
