Another post got me thinking.....where's have the patriots gone? What do I mean? Where's the love of our Country? Where is the belief that the US is the greatest Country on the planet and since the history of man? Where are our elected representatives that trumpet our successes and all the ways we help the world? For the love of mud, you can say anything you want about the US but don't say anything about my football team, those are fighting words. The people who blame the US for everthing from global warming to causing the AIDS epidemic certainly have no problem making themselves heard. Why can't the American patriots do the same? I am not talking about the love from the Euroweenies, Russia (which distinctly has our disinterest at heart), China (who will probably serve as our destructor), etc. I am not talking about them loving us. You will find that no world bully and those who are up to no good will ever like, respeect, or love the one who steps forward and prevents their tyranny. What I am talking about is the love of Country by our citizens?....... -Why don't our elected representatives put the Country ahead of political party? -Why don't we teach citizenship in schools any longer? -Why do we allow the American flag to be torn down off a post office in California and replaced with a Mexican flag? -Why do we elect and re-elect people who clearly cannot stand our Country and bash us, demean us, call us the cause of the world's problems? -Why do we let elected representatives come out on national TV and blame America for dictators around the world? -Why do we let the President of Venezuela come here on American soil and demean our Country and President? -Why do we elect people who blame the current President because Clinton and Carter gave North Korea the nuclear capabilities they are now using to make nuclear bombs with? -Why do we not have someone out there telling how the US feeds the world, including Iran and N. Korea? -Why doesn't each home have an American flag flying on it like after 9/11? -Why doesn't each car have the same? -Where has the pride of being an American gone? -Where has the eternal optimism of Ronald Reagan gone? I emplore you to get out there and plant that flag, put that flag sticker on your car. Most importantly, I beg you to learn what the people you are electing stand for. Don't just re-elect the person who serves you now....look at their voting record, google their quotes that made the news, ask yourself if they love our Country above all else. We need some severe patriotism injections in this Country. Not saying that we don't have problems and do dumb stuff. However, it is time that we stand up and say "this is who we are, this is what we stand for, and this is America. We are proud to be Americans and we love this Country". I am dismayed at the ignorance that seems to be going around, especially among the young people of voting age. I just cringe when they can't tell you who the current President and Vice President are nor name any of the Cabinet members....yet say they would vote for Hillary Clinton for President because she is/was a woman. I cringe when I hear a grown woman state on National Radio that she voted for Bill Clinton because he was "CUTE". These days, you are looked on as a kook if you fly our flag, stand at attention and sing the National Anthem, and love our Country. How did THAT happen? Well said. [/ QUOTE ] I guess it is election season that did it.....I have had a butt full of people who hold office and denegrate our Country at the same time. What's wrong with us and how do we allow this to go on? We have media and elected officials who won't show or talk about the good that is being done in Iraq and Afganistan. They will, however, accuse the Haiditha Marines of murder absent any completed investigation or proof. They will smear all armed services because a few guards put underwear on the heads of prisoners in Iraq and let dogs bark at them....at least we didn't cut their heads of while they were ALIVE. When all the beheadings of our soldiers and contractors were being done, not one word of outrage from our so-called Senators. Yet we pile some prisoners up in a nake pyramid to humiliate them and they are outraged. They will call the President a liar and such and talk about how we can't win the war in Iraq while we have troops on the ground in harm's way. Let me just put it this way......when you take the quotes from Osama Bin Laden, the number two guy that runs with Osama, Zarqawi (when he was drawing breath), and most of our Democratic leaders and take their names off the quotes and put them in a hat. When you draw one and can't tell who said it, we are in trouble! It is time that we stand up and say enough is enough. It is time we send people like Pelosi and the other America hating elected reps packing with a strong message of "support our Country, love our Country, and defend our Country or ELSE". This isn't about politics..... This is about people who are elected to Congress to represent our Country and their constituents who apparently hate America. They vote every chance they get to weaken America....be it through opposing oil independence, the Patriot act, surveillance programs. We should have no better advocates for the USA than our elected representatives but 1/2 or more of them seem to hate us, what we stand for, and what America is all about.....that's the ONLY way you can explain their voting record and their quotes. When shortly after 9/11 and the coordinated attacks on DC and NYC, someone would would be Speaker of the House and third in line for the Presidency has the gall to utter the words "I don't believe we are at war". That is what has me upset. Let's debate taxes and Social Security along party lines....not our national security and our very principles. Sadly many people anymore just dont care New. Too many people especially politicians are out for number one and just dont care what they have to do to get there. It all sounds good when something happens like the nutjob from Venezuela bashing our President to defend him, but what happens to that mentality when it comes to standing up for right and wrong continuing on after the media ops. Some of the crap we are hearing currently is a joke. For anyone paying attention to some of the campaign commercials airing locally here not to be able to peg some hipocrits would be pretty weak, but unfortunatley people will vote for candidates for the wrong reasons or because they think they like them. Back years ago...even in the 20's, 30's, and 40's no one would have come out and said that America couldn't win WWI or II while it was going on. No one would have argued over tactics used to intercept enemy communications/funding. It is as if today's legislators don't consider terrorists a real threat....I just don't get that. I say vote America first, even if it means handing the other party a victory. Argue about the little things later. I would probably get banned from the political forum! But as much as I blame the politicians...I blame us. We let this happen. Senators come out all the time and blast our troops (John Kerry who was a few votes shy of the Presidency did what he did in Vietnam and then said our Iraqi troups were terrorizing women and children). Yet, they keep on getting elected term after term. The problem is that most Americans have no idea what they are saying or doing while in office....if they did, I think it would be hard to get re-elected. The heartland of America believes in our ideals and directives.....but sadly are generally not following closely enough to know they are being stabbed in the back. We need to purge congress entirely and kick all the bums out. End all lobbying and politicial contributions all together. That would end this corruption where Senators buy land, use their influence to get it rezoned, and then sell it for a $1.1 million dollar profit....oh and then oops forget to disclose it.
