Guest buckfever7
Re: G5 Montec Broadheads, the verdict......... I get awesome penetration and arrow flight out of the Montec G5, can't wait to introduce one to a deer in a few weeks here in Maine. Wish I were going bear hunting too JimT...maybe next year. Good shooting.
Pinwheel5
Re: G5 Montec Broadheads, the verdict......... A buddy of mine who shoots ok but always has a heck of a time tuning his broadheads came over the other night and tried his out. Absolutley perfect, first shot. Only aabout 1 to 2 inches off at 40 yards. Now this from a guy that usually just gives up and resights in for broadheads. Hmmm, may have to try them for myself. Pinwheel5
Re: G5 Montec Broadheads, the verdict......... Ok, I did it. I went and bought some today and all I can say it "WOW". These things fly like field points and are built great, nothing to work loose. I am hitting about 1 inch off at 20 yards so I will have some work to do at 40 but it is better than the 4 inches off I was with my Muzzys. One thing that I can backup that someone already said. They are not the sharpest broadheads in the world. BUT, they look really easy to sharpen. Just lay them flat on a stone and push. I will let you all know how sharp I can get them tommorow (I can get a pocket knife so sharp you can shave the hairs on your fingers and the hairs literally pop off) so I don't think they will give me much trouble. Pinwheel5
Re: G5 Montec Broadheads, the verdict......... Huh, guess I should do more reading on them. But isn't the idea to have razor sharp blades to keep the wound from coagulating? Either way, I am going to sharpen mine.
dartonman
Re: G5 Montec Broadheads, the verdict......... Well gang, I have an old target, and somehow an old Nugent 125 grain Magnus was stuck in the target from last year.....you guessed it, my Montec found it, and split the broadhead in two....Tim Rosquist from the forums was with me, and UNO was on the phone with me at the time....lol....you cant believe the toughness of this head, it sliced 1/2 way through the Nugent shaft starting with the hole the insert goes in.......pics will follow....gotta love a tough and accurate head......................................and racinghunter, I admire all who shoot with a recurve...truly an art form. al

iron buck
Re: G5 Montec Broadheads, the verdict......... I would like to give these broadheads a try. My only concern is that from some of the posts I have read it has been stated that they are not that sharp from the start. I am not sold on the "push through" principle. I want my broadheads to be razor sharp so they zip through he animal as fast as possible.

Stinger-Hunter
Re: G5 Montec Broadheads, the verdict......... In the past, I've always sharpened my broadheads the night before going hunting anyway. Seems to be the only objection to these broadheads, so to me, no biggie
