popgun
Re: Wheres some good land in central ky When I was just a little shaver I lived with my Grandparents in Somerset. My Grandpa use to take me to Fishing Creek, a few miles west of Somerset, and we'd walk the bank. I don't know if they are still in there or not, but every time I go back to see the old home place, I get the chills every time we cross Fishing Creek while driving down the Cumberland Pkwy. We hunted between the Parkway and Hwy. 80 that goes towards Nancy. Of course back then we also hunted the Burnside Valley before Lake Cumberland covered it all. I don't know if the land along Fishing Creek is public or private, but it was always a good place to see a lot of deer. When I was a kid, seeing deer was important to me, and all of them looked huge back then. Good luck. Most everyone owning land there are friendly people and would probably give you permission to hunt even if they didn't know you from Jack the Ripper. Do they allow hunting in the hollow where the Natural Bridge is? We always saw a lot of nice deer there too. ....popgun

Loomis1228
Re: Wheres some good land in central ky Hey KYBUSTER, Sorry that I don't have a name of someone that would allow you to hunt but I wanted to throw out some counties of where I would personally start looking! Because you are already in Madison and Franklin counties, I would start at Anderson, go to Bourbon and Harrison, travel over to Clark (I work here and there are tons of land here and I have seen tons of deer), I would then go to Jefferson and Oldham. I hunt in Scott county (Sadieville) and love it. I also used to hunt in Grant county which had a ton of deer. The only problem was that the farm I hunted never really produced a very big deer. I guess with some work, the herd there could have produced a lot of big deer. The land owner wouldn't allow us to manage it very much. The best way is to find a site that looks good and then go to the front door and ask the landowner. The worst thing they could say (other than with a shotgun) is no. Good luck and keep us posted!
