Guest madabouthuntin
Well after not seeing a single buck so far this season I finally was able to see something sticking out of the head of a deer other than fur. This past Tuesday the 24th about 6:20 or so I had one come in. I heard him walking around out of my sight after I had hit my "The Can". He sounded as he was walking to me and then stopped. Luckily for me the wind had calmed down enough for me to be able to hear his steps. I hit the can again after waiting a short while and it got him moving again. He walked up in the same location down the same trail as the first doe of the season did. I let the arrow fly and saw that it him him further back than I know I had aimed. I don't know what happened, but I knew it wasn't as good of a hit as I wanted. He took off and I saw my arrow stuck in the ground after it passed through him. I heard him running so I hit the can again in an attempt to calm him down a little. I heard more movement so I hit the can again (just in case). The steps came closer and from out in front of me this time. I saw him walking up and spot my decoy. He stopped eyed it up and down and walked around the come in facing it. He was very stubborn and didn't want to come out far enough for me to get a shot. He kept standing at a tree blocking his vitals and most of his body for that matter. I watched him work over a little sapling, paw the ground a little and think several times about aproaching the decoy. He finally moved out toward the way he came and still facing the decoy and started rubbing his anters and forehead on a tree limb. He gave me just enough to get a shot. I heard it hit with a "POP" and he took off. He didn't make it far. I made a perfect hit on his heart. He piled up with his anters semi tangled in a couple vines haning on a tree about 10 yards from where I shot him. The first one was about 30 out from the side of him. I'm very happy I followed my gut that day and hunted that stand. Here is a pic of the the 2 of them. [image][/image] Here is a pic of his Tarsel gland. I noticed this after I had him up in the air to skin him. They are starting to darken up nicely. Don't you think? [image][/image] Good Luck to everyone this Season!! Guest madabouthuntin
Re: TWINS!!!!! (almost) (pics) I almost forgot... They are both 6 pointers! The trusty Sonic Fury Pro heads did the trick again! I will say the only problem I have with these heads is the fact I keep dulling them when the hit the ground after pass through, but I think I can deal with this problem.
