need2hunt
As in Charlie and the Willie Wonka chocolate factory... The topps trading card company has a card set called Masterpieces and it's for the Lord of the Rings Movies. One of the chace card sets is this artwork which is broken into six different cards and then produced in etched foil. Now here comes the interesting part, they took the ORIGINAL DRAWING (that they used to produce the etched foil cards) and physically cut it into six different cards, which makes them a 1 of 1 original artist sketch card. The odds of finding one of these six original cards is 1:68,000. My brother just pulled one of them out of a pack of cards. We're not sure of the actual value (as non of the others have been found yet and showed up on ebay) but it should be at least $1,000 and probably alot more. the piece that he has is the upper right side with Sam, Frotto and Gollom. Anyway thought that was pretty cool and just wanted to share.

toddyboman
Re: Can you say Charlie?? thats is pretty cool. Congrats to your bro. Nothing more fun than pulling something cool/rare like that of a pack!!
BowJoe
Re: Can you say Charlie?? Congrats. That's pretty cool to get. I bet if he waits long enough that he could get a lot higher price from a collector. Just tell him to sit on it a while and keep in in a air tight collector's case from the baseball store. MCH
Re: Can you say Charlie?? Gary, if it's the same size as a baseball card I can send you a protector for it. BTW---Normally, I would value the card near 1,000 but since it is a set that actually completes a picture, there's no telling what a collector would pay to complete it. We may be talking 5 figures. Newarcher
Re: Can you say Charlie?? Put that card up in a protector and I would google "how to protect baseball cards" and make sure you are storing it correctly. That might be worth some serious scracth.....now whether you sell it now while the movie franchise is hot or wait, that's a hard call. See the link below: http://www.lotrsketchcards.com/masterpieces/index.html New [/ QUOTE ] Yes it does Also the card was put away properly in a protective card case seconds after it was pulled from the package. I used to collect sports cards and my brother has been doing hobby cards for quite a while, so he's got everything he needs. As for selling it, he's not sure if he will. My advice was to wait until at least one of the others pops up on ebay or somewhere and see what sort of value is going to be placed to it by collectors. Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Can you say Charlie?? Keep the wrapper and anything else associated with it! The more you have, the more valuable it will be!!!! Document everything about it (newspaper clippings, store receipts, etc) and keep that stuff too! Hopefully all 6 will be found and some tot somewhere doesn't accidentally destroy it not knowing what he/she has. If all six can be found and collected by someone, you can hold out for big money as the last. Congrats, that is a true treasure find.
