Stinger-Hunter
I'm trying to make up my mind today about going out on Saturday or wait til Sunday. Here is the weather factor for Saturday: Partly Sunny - Sunny Lows around 28, Wind between 14-19 miles per hour. Highs around 51. The Wind is the only thing deterring me from going on Saturday. Sunday the wind dies down to 6-11 miles per hour. I hate to waste a day because of the wind. I know it is borderline which is why I can't decide. I hate to tell my wife I'm gone two days in a row again - I'm going to MN this Thursday for a week.
Strut10
Re: Should I hunt with a 14-19 MPH Wind Well........they're calling for 40-60 mph winds here tomorrow thru Sunday. Looks like I'll be getting some chores around the house done. 14-19 mph and I'm in the tree.

Hoyt03
Re: Should I hunt with a 14-19 MPH Wind Nope, with 20 mph winds the deers stomach shuts down and they dont get hungry enough to eat therefore they do not move. Come on man get out there and hunt. Deer are still deer, they live in this environment 24/7. They dont shut down just b/c of a little wind. They may not move around quite as much, but they are still out there and very killable. By the way goodluck
GWSmith
Re: Should I hunt with a 14-19 MPH Wind Here's a couple interesting research studies done...taken from this source: http://www.trmichels.com/DeerActivityCharts.htm Data from White-tailed Deer Activity In Relation Meteorological Conditions in Southeastern Minnesota, T.R. Michels, Trinity Mountain Publishing also.... Data from Jon's Stone's research project in Texas. Data from GW's Hunting Adventures: The more wind there is the closer to the ground I am I'm still hunting whenever I can go hunting!!! <---<<< Irony intended

Straight Shooter
Re: Should I hunt with a 14-19 MPH Wind I killed my P&Y on a 20-30 mph windy day blowing snow and in the teens for temp. I say hunt like you mean it, I don't guess you can forget the wind and just hunt. LOL

VTbowman
Re: Should I hunt with a 14-19 MPH Wind For bow hunting I do not hunt in winds like these. Especailly if its raining as well. I personally feel it could be unethical to releaes an arrow when the tree Im in is swaying that much and that can definately effect your accuracy. Not to mention wind gust are normally twice as high as forecasted wind speeds and the worng gust at the wrong time could make it that much worse. On the ground or in a tree stand. Again JMO. With a rifle I would be in one of my box stands and would keep my shots under 150 yards.
Stinger-Hunter
Re: Should I hunt with a 14-19 MPH Wind Well, guys I didn't go out today. It will be calmer tomorrow and will give me a better chance, I think. I forgot to mention that my spot was 1 1/2 hours away so an unsuccessful day is a big sacrifice. Wish me luck for Sunday.
