it was opening morning in ny and the weather up here sucks. all my hunting partners saw the weather and bailed! is there anyone out there who is as crazy as i am, and will hunt in any weather. isn't it better to hunt geese in overcast and rain? doesn't the wind help keep the geese in the shooting zone longer. am i just crazy? wasn't happy missing opening morning. i think its time to find some new waterfowl partners. just got into it last season and i am hooked. I don't get many mornings to hunt and my time is limited due to a nagging wife and 3 kids. if i say i'm going, I'm going! anyone else out there having the same problems as me? as you all know it isn't as much fun to hunt geese by yourself, and in NY it's only a 3 bird limit. so i spent and hour setting up to drop three birds in the first flock down. and was home for breakfast. wife was happy, but i was frustrated with my partners. no one else took the time to learn to call, set up spreads, buy decoys and blinds, or scout!

ive hunted some of the nastiest weather you can possible think of and i love it, i mean absolutely love it, its the best for waterfowl, ive had my wader boots freeze to the blind floor, had my boat covered in a sheet of ice, gloves and face mask frozen solid, stood my waders up do to being froze without anyone in them, i love it, i cant get enough of it

I went out today with my 7yr old daughter ( she loves hunting with dad). The weather was horrible, but man were they flying!!! I took my biggest goose ever ...14lbs. I might skip deer hunting tommorow and blast some more!!! Fair weather hunters.....let them lounge!!!!! More for us! Good luck all... bdboy53

Re: fair weather hunters!!!!!

My favorite is FOG. It's easy to get a headache from straining to see the birds, but when you do see them, they're CLOSE. I don't care to duck hunt in the fog so much, but goose hunting is a blast. You hear the honking and sqwacking coming towards you, you're scanning as much as you can until they finally come into view and then, they're usually within 30 feet.
