who uses this gun and dose anyone know where to get 50 grain bullets for them?

First, the .22 Hornet, while an excellent Varmint/Small Game round; it is NOT a Deer load by any standard. Hornet Rifles come mostly with a 1-in-16" twist, with a few with 1-in-14" twist. If your Hornet is a 1-in-16" twist you must load a 50 or 55 grain bullet to almost maximum levels to obtain accuracy. It's better to stick with bullet weights under 50 grains for better acuracy.

Re: 22hornets

I use the 40 gr V-MAX with Winchester 296 powder. That combo seems to give me the best groups at 50 and 100 yards. I tried 50 grain hornady SX bullets and never did get them to group consistantly.

Actually I didn't see any indication in the original post that hunting boy intended to use the hornet on deer, so I'm not sure where the deer hunting comments were coming from. I have found the hornet to be a pretty good short-range varmint gun and a lot of fun for target practice. However, had the gun not been given to me, it probably is not the caliber that I would go out and spend my hard-earned cash on.

As far as where you can get bullets from, it all depends on whether you are referring to bullets as a cartridge component or bullets as the generic term for loaded ammo. I reload my own, so bullets, for me , would come from Midland or some of my local suppliers. I know Gander Mountain has components and I'm pretty sure that Cabelas, or Bass-pro shops would also. Basically, whereever you would buy your other re-loading components would be a good place to look for the bullets. As far as loaded, ready-to-fire, .22 hornet cartridges with 50 grain bullets, that may or may not be quite so easy to find. I can't recall anything on the shelves that were loaded with 50 gr. bullets.

Any 22+ cal centerfire rifle is a legal deer gun in AR. I would use a 223 or 22-250 and not feel undergunned in most situations. The 22 hornet is not a deer gun. I wouldn't even cosider it.

.22 center fires are legal here too. I know a lot of people that use .223's and .22-250's for deer. Not my choice but completely legal.

Re: 22hornets

I know alot of guys from work that live in La, and Tx. Many of them use the 22 hornet, 218 bee, 2jet, and 220 swift for deer. I'm not advocating it since I have taken many with the 22-250 but they consistantly put deer on the ground with them. My toolpushers daughter shot a 9 pt buck on her 5th birthday last year with a hornet. I saw the video from it. One shot to the lungs and that buck was dead within 50 yards. anyway try any of the major sporting goods retilers. If one isn't near you check online.
