Re: Real Antlers, What Lanyard???

I just get some HD string (1/8" to 1/4") and use that to tie them together. I burn the ends so they don't fray. Plus, I hot-glue the knot so it doesn't move at all.

I thought of using hotglue as well. I got some 45" Nylon shoestrings which should be enough. I wanted leather but cant find anything thick enough for my liking. Just thought I ask you all and see which is being the most used!

Thanks! cool.gif

I just used some nylon cord I had laying around, leave plenty of cord between them so you can really go at it... I tied a loop about 3/4 of the way towards one of the antlers - that way I can hang them from a hook in my tree and one antler will rest lower than the other so they don't crash together when the wind blows.

Re: Real Antlers, What Lanyard???

I also use 550 cord. I use a system that is basically just like a article in the last North American Whitetail magazine. I tie the antlers together & have about 2 ' between them. Put a loop in the center & tie a 30' piece to the loop & the other end to my climber. When I am in my climber I use the string to make them rattle on the ground. This does work very good. For some that are using leather, I think that you could get a lacing kit for a ballglove & use those leather strips. They would work good for just holding them together, don't think they would last long using the ground method from a stand though.
