Bowtech_archer07
I was wondering what kind of non-electric predator y'all use. I'm looking at buying one to take deer hunting with me as I have seen more coyotes this year than I have seen in the previous 8 years combined that I have hunted. They just won't come w/in 30 yds. which is my limit with my bow. Any advice anybody has would be great!!
257bob
Re: Predator Calls If you can see a coyote you don't need a call. When you see a coyote a call will likely help the coyote pinpoint you too fast or scare them off. Make a kiss sound with your lips or suck on your hand. This almost always works to get a coyote to come closer. When I am calling coyotes, I quit using a call as soon as I see the coyote. Coyotes can here the lip squeak over 300 yards away. To answer your question, I use a lot of different calls, but I have had really good success with the verminator brand of calls.
sureshot
Re: Predator Calls get a mouse squeeker, one of the bulbs you can keep taped to yoru bow and no movement will be seen and they can hear it for up to 300 yards, also you can get a fawn call and it will atract deer along with coyotes if the time gets slow on the stand!good luck
Bowtech_archer07
Re: Predator Calls I have tried making a kissing sound and it just scares em away. I've scared off 9 coyotes and got one to come in closer with a kissing sound.

captkb44
Re: Predator Calls I make my own. From squeakers to howlers. If you sitting in a tree stand deer hunting and spot a coyote in the distance the light "Kiss of Death" generally works real well. Keep in mind these critters can pin point the distress noise your making in a matter of seconds and if your not completely camoed out (especailly face and hands) they will spot you most of the time. I haven't tried to take a coyote with my bow yet, but with their keen eyesight getting drawn on them is going to be tough. Good luck and let us know how you do. Guest Rottweiler
Re: Predator Calls Don't ask me why but I find making the kissing call on the back of your hand/fist rather then the palm works wonders. I realized this while driving through a wooded section near my home and saw a fox nosing along the side of the road. I slowed the car to a stop about 100 yards from the fox and tried the kissing trick on my hand to no success, he seemed to just ignore me. Now i will tell you when i tried it on the back of my hand that fox came running down the side of the road like a dinner bell was rung at a county fair and he was hopping all over the place looking over the grass on the side of the road and when i say he was going crazy i mean nutz, he was more excited then a kid at a carnival. Again don't ask me why, maybe more high pitched, difference in sound a bit but I know it turned him fast and furious, was awsome to see. I also did it one other time one night when me and a friend were cutting through the woods (Shortcut ) heading somewhere, not hunting or anything. And i heard the leaves ahead rustling, i motioned my friend still and saw the fox about 25 yrds ahead. It was a big full moon so very easy to see him, he didnt see us yet. We kneeled down and i started to kiss/squeak (where he was so close to us) on the BACK of my hand, hand with fist closed and honest to god that fox walked within 6 feet of us. Blew my mind to say the least and my buddys. He got a sniff and poof, gone. So yes a small squeak on the hand will work wonders if done right. Very quick and low sqeak if there in close and only one time as not to attract the attention to yourself.
