shockwave
So i`m sitting in my treestand this evening and hear a .22 go off, it nearly gave me a heart attack. Then i hear the buzz of a bullet over my head close enough to shake me up, this guy couldn`t have been more than 30 or 40 yards from me. I went by the regs and wore an orange cap, and vest,I was hunting in a patch of woods no more than 3 acres in size, if this guy couldn`t see me he was either blind or just diddn`t give a crap. Sorry for ranting, i had to vent, thanks for listening..
Dogg6
Re: Small Game Season Stinks !! Same type of thing happened to me last Thursday night. One of the neighbor kids was playing around shooting his .22. He must have rattled of 20 or 30 round before dark. I didn't dare get out of the tree, cause I knew he didn't know I was there and I had no idea which direction he was shooting. My truck sits up on a field right near the property line (which is next to his house). He had to of seen it. I ended up sitting way after dark just to make sure he was done messing around. It really does suck when you do everything you can to be quiet and someone messes up the whole nights hunt. Better luck next time

Doc
Re: Small Game Season Stinks !! Not only that, but imagine spending months patterning and scouting for bow season and then having 4 or 5 guys blazing away at squirrels or birds or trees as they wander a nice tight circle around and through the area that you are hoping undisturbed deer will be practicing their normal movements and habits that you have spent months learning. No, it's not their fault. It's state land and they have just as much right to be there as I do. That doesn't keep it from being frustrating. With an apparent new popularity in this kind of walk and shoot small game hunting or just plain "traveling target practice", bow season is now starting to sound more like deer gun season, and the deer are starting to react accordingly. The best thing about bowhunting is that it is supposed to offer a season where you can apply some scouting, patterning and strategy to your hunting and actually apply some skill and woodlore to your hunting instead of just relying on luck. Unfortunately having small-game season running parallel to bow season can really screw all that up. Nobody's fault......just the way things sometimes work out. Tominator
Re: Small Game Season Stinks !! Had that happen to me once, but luckily the guy wasn't shooting over me. I got down and we talked, we both had permission to be there, but didn't know we'd be hunting at the same time. You don't have to wear orange in Ohio during bow season, so he never saw me. shockwave
Re: Small Game Season Stinks !! What really ticked me off was, how small the woods were where i hunted, he had to have seen me through open woods..

Stinger-Hunter
Re: Small Game Season Stinks !! I've been waiting for some goofball to say something like "Hey they have a right to be in the woods too - to each his own. We have to share the woods and blah blah blah" I'm glad no one has done that, cause i hate those small game hunters. Waste of energy to take an animal that doesn't weigh more than 2 lbs. Sorry i had to rant also.
HoosierDaddy28
Re: Small Game Season Stinks !! I guess, I will be the guy that does that. Yes, they do have the right to be in the woods as long as they are legal and have permission on the property. As much as I love to deer hunt, that doesn't give us the right to put down other hunters. As far as I am concerned squirrel, rabbit, or bird hunting is just as noble a pursuit as deer hunting. What does it matter if it weighs two lbs or 200lbs. If you don't want people around you, buy some property. (sorry, but hunters should all be on the same side, not be snobs about what kind of game we hunt)
