I have a trail camera with 2,300 photos of some small bucks, a ton of does and yearlings, and coons. This guy showed up last week. I have practiced patience all season: holding out for something big to shoot with my new Excalibur Exocet. I hope I am presented with a good shot on this ole guy. Looks like maybe an 18 inch spread, big 8 pointer, maybe 12 inch G2's. I am going to hunt as much as I can before modern rifle starts in a few weeks, hoping to tag him before someone else does. I don't consider myself a big time deer hunter. I've only harvested a spike, a 4 pointer, two 6's, a 7, and an 8 point that I mounted. Shot a couple does also. This season, I made myself let the small bucks walk and hold out for a big deer. It has been tough, but I now have a new feeling towards deer hunting: hunting those big ones!
