Fall bird down

I always buy a fall trukey tag just in case I stumble across a turkey while pheasant hunting (which is quite common here in Iowa). Well last Sunday it was 60 degrees and the wind from the south so archery hunting was out for me. I went to this place where I spring turkey hunt and when I got there I spooked 15 birds that were feeding in the field. A friend told me to "bust them up" so I did. I then relocated about 90 yards away and started to call for 3 minutes. I then tought that this friend stated; "sit for 20 minutes and then call". Anyway I drop the call and as soon as that happens I hear "putt, putt" and there 35 yards away is a hen. She slowly disappears, however, more turkeys start walking by and I got a shot at a spring jake that weighed about 16 pounds. The shot was alittle farther then I would have prefered, however, the 12 gauge #4's did the job.

Wonder if all fall turkey hunts will last 4 minutes and be this easy (LOL)!!!!!

Sorry no photos.

Good luck to all & God bless
