decision time

With our ml season opening this weekend, I need to decide where to hunt Saturday morning. The past two weekends have had me seeing the same good 10 pointer in my back field. Normally I try to hunt in the woods in the mornings and the fields in the afternoons.

Saturday two weeks ago at 8:20 in a group of 5 bucks. He made a scrape at the field edge and fed into one of our plots between a brush pile and the hardwoods. Despite drawing on him and having the pin behind his shoulder, I never could get a shot I really felt comfortable with on him with the bow. This past Sunday morning we saw him again on the youth hunt in the same field about 5:30 or so, he looked to come out of the brush pile and again he worked some scrapes along the field edges. Have a couple scrape drippers with active scrape going along the field edges, those scrapes are seeing some pretty good activity.

I have a good stand where the wind should be right to hunt down in the woods near the river, but not sure where this guy is coming from and if he happened to hit the field again I am not so sure that I would ever see him. I know the guys hunting behind me will likely push some deer my way. The ladder stand blind is easy access and can get in it most likely undetected really early and see most of the field. The wind will be right for the ladder stand blind looking over the field if it holds to the current forecast.

We got a pic of this buck on the 31'st at 1:58 in the morning in one of our plots, looked to be heading towards the field where we had seen him again. I really am leaning towards hunting the field.

Where would you try to hunt?
