My 2006 bow buck

Well here is the story,

Yesterday I went on to state land to scout an area for this weekend for my buddy Larry and I. I set up next to an old stump on the ground just to hang loose for awhile and see if anything was moving. I see I had a ton of small branches and twigs around me so I got up and clipped a bunch of them down to make a few shooting lanes. This took me about 15 minutes. I sat down on the stump and pulled out my coffee to have a cup and I hear something coming down the trail I came in on. So I turned around to see a nice buck 15 yards from me on an old grown in road. Unfortunately I didn't cut a shooting lane out in that direction figuring I just walked in that way, there was no way a deer would follow me that soon, and I planned on moving in awhile anyhow. Well this buck crossed the road to my side about 30 yards away and walked right into one of my shooting lanes I had cut not 5 minutes before. I drew back and let fly and MISSED! I shot right under him, I must have leaned into the shot as I released the arrow. The deer just took a couple of jumps and walked off. I tried bleeting to him and grunting and all he would do is look around and put his nose in the air. So I snuck out of there and decided to try again this morning.

This morning I was in the same spot 2 hours later than the day before because I had to get the kids off to school. I sit down, hang my bow, look to my left and here he comes. He walked about 30 yards into a shooting lane I had cut yesterday and Thwack! I didn't miss this time! He went about 50 yards and piled up in sight of me. He is a 10 point with 4 on his left and 6 on his right, including a split brow tine. My best bow buck by far!

The deer was taken with my PSE Triton, goldtip camo arrows and sonic broadhead, and MrWiggelys doe in heat. Dressed weight is approx. 185 I will put him on the scale later to get a more accurate weight.
