Turkeygirl
Ok, I asked this last week, lol, and I'm asking it again. We got about half a foot of snow here, and still getting more. I think by tonight it'll let up. Anyway I get home at 3pm and I have the choice of A) - go turkey hunting and try to find their tracks, or B) Go try and fill my archery antlerless tag. If I deer hunt, I have a west wind so I'll probably have to hike a mile up in acorn field to get to the stand that is on a logging trail, where hemlocks meet hardwoods. I'm assuming with this snow, the deer are going to be going into the hemlocks for warmth and protection??? So I'm kind of leaning towards deer and we are going to spend Saturday afternoon through Sunday mornign at the neighbors land, where there is a big flock of turkeys and Andy said I could take my gun and try for turkey Sunday morning (obviously he must have asked our neighbor, but the neighbor doesn't care really anyway ) But if I deer hunt tonight, I give up the chance of tracking down the turkeys here. I think my chance lies with deer, but what do you all think or would do?
MCH
Re: Need your input I'd go after the doe. I've always liked hunting after a snow, just for the scouting options it offers after the hunt. After the hunt, get down and do a little scouting. You may find a honeyhole that you never knew was there.
NiteRunner
Re: Need your input I think you should change your name to DeerGirl! lol J/K Sorry! There's nothing like tracking the deer through the snow, I say go get a deer.
RangerClay
Re: Need your input I'm staying out of this one. If I go deer hunting I see turkeys and if I go turkey hunting I see deer.
wtnhunt
Re: Need your input Maybe this year we will get a good snow. Would love to deer hunt in a snow like that. I would deer hunt if I were you.
BuckNrut
Re: Need your input I must be the economist of the group. Turkey = 10 pounds of meat, Deer = 70 pounds. Go deer hunting and take a turkey call.
