Tikka Scope mounting Trouble

I've recently purchased a Tikka T3 in 3006. In comes with it's own rings and scope mounts. I have been out shooting twice and I can't keep the back mount from creeping forward on the rails. I've tightened it as much as I dare. I am thinking of purchasing some after market rings to fix this problem and am open to all suggestions. Am I doing something wrong or should I buy new mounts?

Thanks,

Beanman

OJR,

Thanks, I will contact Tikka but my main problem is my Elk season starts on Nov 15 and I'd like to have this solved in time to shoot it some more.

Cheers,

BM

??----Didn't have a bit of a problem with my Tikka. If push comes to shove & you can't find a set of rings---I'll take mine off & Fed X them up to you. Mine is a whitetail series--Tikka---mounts are medium. It's an out if you need it. A man has got to go elk hunting!!! CB

You might try to put a shim under the base and see if you can tighten it up! I don't know if you can or not, but it would be worth a try until you can get it squared away with the factory!

CB, that's a really kind offer, I've still got my old Ruger M77 as a back up plan. I really want to use the new one. T

Thanks for all your help.

This is not a good idea unless the bases are out of alignment. If they are not and its caused by some other problem, you can ruin the scope by installing shims under the bases when they are not needed. I would relace the bases with a quality set from Warne.
