"LEROY".......RIP

Shame on me for not posting this in here.....please forgive me, LOL........I have been posting so many trail-cam pics of this buck the past several months, down in the Photography Room, that I naturally posted the harvest of him down there out of habit, LOL.......

Long and short of it, is I've know about this buck for three years, but have reserved a rifle tag for him in the past....this year when he started showing up on trail cams in July and looking as good as he did, I vowed to not give him till rifle season this year......and dedicated my entire bowhunting existance towards him.......

I'm embarrassed to say I missed him on Sept 2nd, shooting right over his back, but thankfully he had no clue what had happened only only bounded a couple of steps into the tree-line..............October 28th was to be our next and final encounter.......a 24 yard nearly broadside shot was the saving grace and redemption to boot.........by the time I got my gear packed up, it was dark...I tried to find him with a flashlight for the next couple of hours, but with no luck.....so I slipped out and spent a sleepless night at home........

Got up the next morning and found him within 5 minutes......here he had doubled back, in his death flight, and was actually on the complete other side of the creek from where I had searched the night before........pretty slicktrick.....one last slip that he tried to give me..........

He's got 14 scoreable points and we rough scroed him right at 160 gross.........I couldn't be more excited.......now the jhob of picking a taxidermist begins...... smile.gif

....bet the girls at your house were sure proud of daddy....

Oh, the girls loved it, but it was the "little man" how got the biggest kick out of it.....he's a year and 8 months now....among hi early vocabulary is "deer" "big deer" and "dead deer"... grin.gif

So I made sure that he too, got to put his hands on it...I thought we were gonna have to peal them off with a crowbar, LOL.....my two oldest girls want to go with on a hunt this year, so i guess I'm gonna have to treat them to it......I figure a doe wacking is a good way to break them in...... wink.gif
