Guest isiaha Posted November 6, 2006 Report Share Posted November 6, 2006 WE have a great hunting spot in maine.We see deer everyday. On the other side if a small river loggers starting cutting trees from first light to dark a few days ago. We have not seen a deer since they started. It sounds like they are right there with us. My father and I are not seeing the deer we are used to be seeing! We think all the deer in that area are nocturnal for the time being. But hopefully the area will soon calm down. They been at this now for about four weeks, they start at 5AM, and quit just before 5PM! I was lucky to see the six pointer I shot, but only seen 3 does this year! We had leased some ground in ILLINOIS , the land owner told me he was going to have the timber logged after deer season but when we show up for opening morning gun , we walk in and see they have started and i was pissed off but went and sat down anyway. They didnt show up to work during gun season and that morning three of us took a wall hanger apiece . So i guess its not as bad as you thnk it might be . Good luck !! During hunting season we would carry our guns in because we jumped deer every morning in the area we had cut the day before. If they are cutting pines or firs, look for the deer to bed down near the slash piles. If they are cutting malpe, cherry or other hardwoods look for the deer to be browsing on the buds of branches.
