AdvantageTimberLou
One way to keep Primos "The Can" ready is to thread a 2 foot or so long string through the holes and tie it in a knot. This will take some time and patience but trust me you can thread it back up into a hole. Then tie a loop on the other end so you can hang it from your tree. Then when on stand, either hang from a branch on your tree or screw in a small hook. Now the can is within easy reach for making calls and having your weapon ready instead of fumbling for it in your pack or pocket for the call. I have tried both ways and this idea that came to me Saturday works great as I tried it on Sunday. Its out of the way and ready for quick calling and no worries about if falling out of your pocket or pack. It just hangs there and is ready at all times. Cheap idea I thought on a great call. Just thought I would pass it on.
wtnhunt
Re: Tip for \"The Can\" users Interesting idea Lou. Would have never thought of that. My can call is usually on the rail of the stand or seat sitting next to me where I dont have to fumble through my pockets and can flip it over easily with little effort to get to it. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Tip for \"The Can\" users My idea works pretty good if your standing with your bow in hand and with your release hand you can reach over to the can and do your calling and when done let it rest next to the tree. Worked pretty good yesterday. Maybe I should contact Will Primos on my product enhancement and collect on the royalties!!
johnf
Re: Tip for \"The Can\" users Could you attach another string on the bottom and lower the whole thing to ground level? That way you could call at ground level when a deer is close and you wouldn't have to worry about it looking up for the sound.
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Tip for \"The Can\" users John, The thing is you have to turn over the can and not sure if you could do it with strings, could be more hassle than its worth. Be creative and try it. I figure once the deer is within sound of it I will be ready to draw and make the shot, calling is over at that point. I do have a hands free grunt tube I can call with if I need the deer to stop for a shot. Have seen outdoor shows where a guy uses strings to rattle his horns that are at ground level, that was neat!! GWSmith
Re: Tip for \"The Can\" users Lou...You could probably do that same thing with a rattlebag as well! Just tie it to some rope so it's hanging right next to the tree...move the rope slightly away from the tree and let it go...the bag would bounce back and hit the tree! MCH
Re: Tip for \"The Can\" users Here's a similar thing I do with mine: Find a good size rubber band and loop it around the middle(side) of the Can. Keep looping it until it is humanly impossible to loop another time. This will give you a pretty stout anchor to tie a string off to. You can make a lanyard out of cord and wrap it around your neck if you want. I've never had this come off.
Bownarow
Re: Tip for \"The Can\" users I've never had any luck with my can call anyway. So I usually leave it sitting on my truck seat, or on the shelf at home.
johnf
Re: Tip for \"The Can\" users I tried it with a short 6' rope and it worked pretty well. I used a loop of rope and hung it upside down. (1 hole up, multiple holes down) When you pull up the rope with the multiple holes the can sounds. Sence you're using a loop of rope that's duct-taped to the can, your just pulling on the rope with no stress on the can.
sskybnd
Re: Tip for \"The Can\" users johnf i'l have to give that a try, i have a set of antlers that i have on a rope that i leave at the foot of my stand that i just jerk up and get them to rattle i bet the can would work like that and make it sound closer to the ground than up a tree. johnf
Re: Tip for \"The Can\" users You could probibly use some pretty lightweight monofiliment too. That way they wouldn't see the string.
Guest HaDeRonDa
Re: Tip for \"The Can\" users Thanks for the tip. I'm making the change tomorrow AM. I'm tired of having to dig it out every time I want to use it especially with my gloves on.

I've had small bucks come to it but that doesn't do me any good.
