Swamphunter
I currently have a 3 legged stool that I hunt from when I want to be able to move around easily and silently. It is a bit "non comfy" , and was wondering what you guys carry around when you are bouncing from place to place (other than a climber and the 5 gallon bucket answers) . Thanks
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Lightweight stool Ken, I use one of those folding type chairs that fit nicely in the bag, its only 2 to 3 foot long and has a strap that can be used for carrying it on your back. Its light too!! These chairs usually have a backrest and some even come with armrests. They are the ones you see most people taking to firework shows or ball games. They are cheap and some are in camo. Check out a Dunhams or Gander Mountain store. Good luck and as for the bucket, been there, and at the very moment you need everything to be quiet, that dang plastic bucket makes a sound! wtnhunt
Re: Lightweight stool Been there with the bucket, still have one as an extra seat in one of our ladder stands that is set up as a blind. Pretty sure cabelas sells a collapsible 3 legged stool. Might try a search there.
Swamphunter
Re: Lightweight stool Ya, I have a three legged stool. Just looking for something a bit more comfy. No matter how you sit, one of the three of those legs are hitting you in your junk. I would like a better seat I guess.
Guest Finn
Re: Lightweight stool lol.....yeah, I'd think stools like the Double Bull one would be a bit invasive after awhile
GWSmith
Re: Lightweight stool I use something similar to this, with the strap hooked on to my fanny pack, when I'm doing a "Run and Gun" (technically speaking - walking and finding a place to sit awhile...LOL) Thermo Seat Warm Buns are a Good Thang
buckee
Re: Lightweight stool I use the 3-legged stool too, along with the cushion Gary has a link to above. It's a bit easier on the rump, etc, but after a few hours, can get uncomforstable too. I'd like to find a 3-legged stool, that swivels. I think the ability to swivel would help some. (preferably heated, with a footrest, and vibrator ) Here's one. I wish I could find one here in Canada. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AAGSCY/ref=cm_rna_own_review_prod/102-6377476-3903309

RangerClay
Re: Lightweight stool This is what I use when I go to the southern tier. When I move to a new location I just fold it in half and put it in my pack. I like it because I don't have to carry it in my hands if I should bump a deer and have to shoot. The seat has one extra perk. It folds up against the tree if you want to stand for a while then back down when your legs get tired. I tried the stool thing but you cannot lean your back up against a large tree because of the roots. Also if the ground is soft, the legs will sink in the ground. I always wound up sitting in less ideal locations because of a stool. The folding seat attaches exactly where you want to sit.
unioncountyslayer
Re: Lightweight stool I use the fold-out chairs with the cup holders in them. These cup holders are great for putting grunt calls and cans in to have easy access to them.
billkay
Re: Lightweight stool I have that seat that you have a link to. Got it at Gander Mtn. About $12. Steve, could I sned one to you?
buckee
Re: Lightweight stool Yeah Bill Just let me know how much, plus shipping. I want one bad. I hate it, when I can't turn just a tad, when a deer is it front of me, without making a production of it.
Bowtech_archer07
Re: Lightweight stool I have a chair that is a smaller version of the big fold up chair. It sits about 1 ft. off the ground, has a bag under it for carrying gear, and has a shoulder strap attached. I've used it in a ground blind and just sitting in the brush. They're about $20 at most. I got mine at Dunham's and I love it!!!
too_pointer
Re: Lightweight stool I have two different models of the seat that chain or wrap around tree trunks. They work o.k. most of the time if the tree is leaning the right direction, if not its a back killer. I now bought a fold up seat that has a back rest and a bag hangs under you to carry hunting stuff with. If I could get a lazy boy out there I would LOL too_

M00N
Re: Lightweight stool I have this stool (I got it for $30 in a bargain bin). It did me well for the two years I used it. It is very quiet and very comfortable, and folds up pretty well. [LINK] I don't use the swivel stool anymore since I got this, though. [LINK] Once I got that turkey/deer seat thing I was happy. That Buckwing seat I've yet to find a place even on the most steep incline that I couldn't sit on it with my back against a tree and be comfortable and not feeling like I want to rock forward and down the hill all the time. I got one for my dad as a gift and he ditched all his stools because that seat is lighter than any of the ones we have and folds up nicely with a strap that easily can be wrapped and tied around a backpack to carry it hands free. All the legs on it fold up inside the frame making it just a frame that you carry. It's very sturdy too, I've abused mine quite a bit and so has my dad's and the legs didn't bend or even attempt to bend. There are two versions of the Buckwing seat the new one which I linked to is the sturdiest one.
mainehunter68
My family uses a backpack stool that we designed ourselves. We have used them for 10 years, and they work great, even in a blind. We use our's mostly for deer hunting, and have gotten some nice deer from them over the years. Check out our web-site www.PageEnt.com We have photos on there of some of the deer we've taken from our stools. They are lightweight(5lbs), and easy to carry through the woods. Happy Hunting! Picked up a couple at WalMart for about $5 a piece. We can set up 2 inside the popup blind.
Flintlock1776
I use the tree one and the Double Bull chair mostly. The low turkey type metal seat with mesh webbing tend to dig in and sink into the ground and are hard to keep level.
