snapper
You didn't happen to take it to a taxidermist here in PA did you? It took my (last) taxidermist over a year to do my turkey. The end result was great...but not even close to the time he told me! I really didn't have a prob. with the len. of time...more of an issue of him not calling and keeping me updated....esp. after the time frame came and went. Hope your mount turns out great and your happy with it. Can't wait to see some pics.
dogdoc
Re: Taxidermist is in slow motion it takes my taxidermist about a year to get a deer back from him. he is a teacher and does taxidermy on his off time (school breaks). he does such a great job i don't mind waiting. todd

Stinger-Hunter
Re: Taxidermist is in slow motion I took a great Virginia 8 pointer, which everyone told me was good enough to mount (which it was). Taxidermist told me it would be ready in June. August Rolls around, he tells me two weeks, September...October...every time he tells me two weeks. Finally in December almost Christmas, I ask him to call me and tell me why he keeps telling me 2 weeks, 2 weeks...blah blah blah. He sends me the horns back with my deposit. That's it. Nothing else. So now this great set of horns is in Minnesota (supposedly) with a taxidermist that my buddy knows and he is supposed to put a different head on it. This November it will be 3 years since I shot the thing and still no mount. A taxidermist can make a killing if he actually had a team of guys doing these things and turned these deer over in 4-5 months. I'm sure EVERYONE would be willing to fork out an extra $50 or $100 to get their mounts back in the same year they shot them.
