Stalked and Killed Doe (pics)

This is my first kill of 2006. It all happened on saturday morning around 9 am. A doe was chased up this ridge by a small 6 pt. He wasn't too interested because he turned around and walked off. The doe ended up laying down about 60 yds down the ridge from me. I took out my binoculars and noticed that she was laying down broadside to me, but looking away from me. I also notice that there were two trees in between me and her head. So I decided to try and stalk her. I climbed down out of my stand without being noticed and began to make my way towards her, keeping those 2 trees in between her and I. I made it up to the first tree which was about 25 - 30 yds from her. I stepped out from behind the tree and took my shot at her laying down. I double lunged her and she ran about 15 yds and piled up. My first stalk and it was exciting.....here is a few pics.

Awesome ... reading about your hunt reminded me of a nice buck I got about 22 years ago, on an island I used to hunt. He was coming down off a ridge and just standing there looking at me. There was a big tree between me and him, so I just slipped sideways a bit to get the tree between me and him and sneaked up behind the tree, gaining myself about 25 yrds. I was shotgun hunting with buckshot at the time, so needed to close the distance a bit.

I slowly looked out from behind the tree when I got to it and there he was, still standing there starring. grin.gif at about 20 yards.

That was a fun stalk...way to go. grin.gif and thanks for the memory flashback also grin.gif
