Ok folks, I've been congradulating my hunting partners and friend all season. Well this morning it was my turn. I hunted my brother in-laws property, where he shot a nice buck, and at 8:00 am I hadn't seen a deer. I let the bow down and was getting ready to go to the office, and I heard a crash off to my left. I quickly pulled the bow back up and got ready. I saw a buck rubbing a tree about 90 yards from me. I doe bleated and he started to hobble my way. Yes he was hobbling, his left leg was useless. It seemed to be broken, it took him 15 min. to work into 25 yards then another 5 min. to give me an angle I wanted. I was pretty calm while all this was going on, although the heart was beating. Finally he turned and I aimed right above the point of the leg and shoulder. WACK, I heard bone and he ran off. I grabbed my bino's and watched him go into a blow down 85 yards down the ridge. I watched his head swinging back an forth, but didn't know how much penetration I got. I didn't see any blood on the far side of him as he ran away. I left, got some work done at the office and my brother in-law and I headed back out around 1:00. Well I stalked the blow down he was in, and he was stiff. When I saw the blood trail, I relized I could have gotten him right away. When I dressed him, the shaft of the arrow was stuck right in the heart. Here he is.
