terry264
Re: repalcement barrels?? Wow, never heard of anyone replacing a barrel for this reason, fix it! Kind of like replacing your car's engine for a bad plug wire, ha ha.
AJ
Re: repalcement barrels?? Sure, you can get them here from H&R 1871. A 308 Win barrel will cost $85 + shipping to and from the factory. If he needs it quick, it ain't a gonna happen. These guns are not like the Encore and/or Contender. Barrels are not interchangeable between frames. They are custom fit to each receiver/forend. Next time I suggest not waiting till deer season is around the corner.

AJ
Re: repalcement barrels?? Shooting the Handi is a little different due to the style of the gun. My first Handi Rifle was an ok performer, not great. I did a couple little tweaks and now the gun is able to average sub MOA for 5 different 5 shot groups at 100 yards. The trigger pull is more critical than on a bolt gun as the Handi uses a transfer bar system. If you just flick the trigger to get it to drop the hammer, you will have inconsistant ignition. If you use exagerated follow through, squeezing the trigger completely and not letting off until after recovering from recoil, the accuracy will be better. I also float the barrels in the forend by using a rubber o-ring in the forend set in bedding compound. Canting the gun will also open the groups.
