How many rounds do you take?

I have a Remi 700 BDL .270 that will hold 5 rounds. I normally take a few more rounds with me. This season, I think 5 sounds like enough, being that it should only take one shot to harvest. Wondering how many rounds you guys normally take into the woods: rifle cartridges or shotgun slugs? I know of some people that will take 15 to 20 rounds.

Keep 3 in the magazine on my 700 when I am hunting, pretty sure the law says you are not supposed to have more than 3. I carry a partial box in my parka pocket, the box usually has anywhere from 5 rounds up to a full box. Like to carry the box, because the shells in the box are quiet.

Depends on where I am hunting. If I go off into a Wilderness Area, I carry more just in case I have stay out there longer than intended. If I am going to a stand or someplace close I take 3 or 4. Most of the time I bring more than one kind of round and select my bullet when I get there.

Re: How many rounds do you take?

last year i had one in chamber 4 in rifle pouch thing..and usually 10 more in my bag so 15

Little story why.

Last year was my first year hunting and lets just say buck fever hit and i missed 6 times on the same deer, and hit on the 7th shot. He was down in the corner of a corn feild surrounded by woods and it confused him on where the shot was comeing from, and on top of that he was more intersted in the do.

This year probably 4 in the mag and a box in the bag so i dont ever have to really worry bout getting them bye the end of season.
