POI question.

The last time I shot my 243 it was shooting 2" high at 100 yards. It's done quite a bit of traveling sence then. Last night I took it out to make sure it was still on but only had 75 yards to shoot. My pattern was very tight, but was about 1" low of my dot which would put it 3" lower than I expected it to be.

Do I need to raise my crosshairs up 9 clicks to get it 2" high or is the flight path of the bullet still on it's upward climb at 75 yard?

I just can't see it being that low at 75.

Re: POI question.

Sorry about that.

I just check the Winchester site and did not see a ballistics chart.

I then went to the Remington site and they listed two shells at 100g in .243 Win.

1st said 0" (or zero) at 50 yards was 0.5" high at 100 yards; and the other said 0.1" high at 50 was 0.7" high at 100 yards.

I doubt 1" low at 75 was good.

Id re-sight in if I were you...

Re: POI question.

According to Remington ballistics if your are 2 inches high at 100 you would be 1.5 high at 75 yards. This would put you right on at 215 yards. This was with 100 grain bullet at 2960 fps, with a low BC.

You may need more than 9 clicks, at 75 yards one click will not be 1/4.

Hope this helps.

Re: POI question.

You should be about 1.75" high at 75 yards to be 2" high at 100 yards. Hitting 1" low at 75 yards would give you about 1.25" low at 100 yards. If your scope was mechanically perfect and had true 1/4" clicks, you will need 13 clicks to bring it back to 2" high at 100 yards. I do not recommend adjusting it a bunch and taking it hunting without verifying it on paper first.

We're now 9 and 1 and will have a 6 hour trip next Friday to the opposite corner of the state. We'll get home around 3:30 AM. Looks like an afternoon hunt next week. smirk.gif
